In addition to the delivery and pick-up of groceries from certain stores, the ‘Digital Storefront’ is planned for all stores. The solution will be implemented as ‘Headless Commerce’. The user experience, i.e. the websites and other communication channels to the end customer, are created by specialised agencies. These use the Headless Commerce API’s of the SAAS Grocery Commerce Cloud as business logic. With its API’s and the SAAS Back-Office, SAAS AG provides the solution for managing product data (Product Information Management / PIM), administering content (Content Management System / CMS) and processing orders with in-store picking (Order Management System / OMS). This involves the integration of internal systems and external data sources.

Ulrich Theilmann, Head of Digital Transformation & eCommerce at MPREIS, comments on the decision: ‘Many of our markets impress with their extraordinary architecture. We deliberately chose a headless commerce platform because we want to design also the digital user experience individually and in an innovative way. SAAS AG convinced us both with the technical architecture of the solution and with their many years of experience in the online grocery business’.
